Some media outlets are reporting that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian have died in a helicopter crash. However, no official confirmation has been made yet.

A senior Iranian official, speaking

anonymously to Reuters due to the sensitivity of the matter, stated that Raisi, the foreign minister, and all other passengers were killed when the helicopter crashed into a mountain in heavy fog in East Azerbaijan province.

Reuters quoted the official as saying, "President Raisi, the foreign minister, and all passengers in the helicopter were killed in the crash."

Iran's Mehr news agency also reported that all passengers on board "were martyred." The passengers included the governor of East Azerbaijan, Malek Rahmati, and Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem, the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to East Azerbaijan province, along with several other individuals.
